Ο Γενικός Διευθυντής του ICC Jeff Allardis αποφάσισε να παραιτηθεί μόνο 20 ημέρες μπροστά
Just 21 days before the Champions Trophy 2025, ICC chief executive officer (CEO) Geoff Allardice has stepped down from his position. The Australian is the latest official to resign from the global body as changes continue to happen at the ICC. He was appointed as the ICC’s CEO in November 2021, after previous CEO Manu Sawhney was removed.
Champions Trophy mess forced ICC CEO to resign?
As per Cricbuzz, the ICC did not issue an official statement over Allardice’s decision to step down but suggests that it could be due to the mess-up in the T20 World Cup 2024 and the rocky road to Champions Trophy apart from accountability issues.
It is pertinent to point out that it was Allardice who did not address the issue of India unwilling to travel to Pakistan till the very last moment. Adding to the trouble was a letter from Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) alleging delay in taking several decisions including unveiling of the schedule for CT 2025. Even broadcaster Star had lashed out over the delay in the announcement of the schedule, noting that the ICC was obligated via contract to reveal the fixtures 100 days before the tournament. Not to forget, the organizing of the T20 World Cup in the USA and Caribbean earned a lot of flak last year. All these issues, alongside accountability, could have possibly led to the ICC CEO’s resignation.

“It has been a privilege to serve as the Chief Executive Officer of the International Cricket Council and I am incredibly proud of the results we have achieved, from enhancing the global reach of cricket to the commercial foundation put in place for ICC Members,” Allardice said.
On Tuesday, the ICC confirmed that Allardice had decided to step down from his position as chief executive.
“On behalf of the ICC Board, I want to sincerely thank Geoff for his leadership and commitment during his tenure as Chief Executive. His efforts have played a key role in advancing cricket globally. We are truly grateful for his service and wish him all the very best in his future endeavors,” said ICC chairam Jay Shah.
