Delhi Capitals captain Axar Patel has been fined for maintaining a slow-over rate in the game against Mumbai Indians. The hosts suffered a collapse, going from 135/3 to being bowled out for 193. A hat-trick of run-outs sealed the deal for MI as they snatched away a 12-run victory.

DC’s Axar Patel penalized
A press release from IPL stated that Axar has been fined Rs 12 lakhs for the offence. He now joins Samson, Pandya, Pant among others to be fined for maintaining slow-over rate in IPL 2025 so far.
“As this was his team’s first offence of the season under Article 2.22 of the IPL’s Code of Conduct, which pertains to minimum over-rate offences, Patel was fined INR 12 lakhs,” the release read.

On return to IPL after 1077 days, Karun Nair smashed 40-ball 89 to take Delhi cruising. However, Mumbai turned things around, thanks to Karn Sharma’s 3/36 in the middle-overs.
However, in the end, it was a team hat-trick of run-outs that sealed the fate of the match. Ashutosh Sharma, Kuldeep Yadav and Mohit Sharma were run out in the 19th over as Delhi were bowled out for 193.
Earlier, Tilak Verma and Naman Dhir powered Mumbai Indians to 205/5 in 20 overs. Suryakumar Yadav also played a handy knock of 28-ball 40. Ryan Rickleton also scored 25-ball 41, helping Mumbai’s cause. Kuldeep Yadav was the best bowler for Delhi as he picked up two wickets for just 23 runs. Delhi Capitals opted to bowl, but they missed out on Faf du Plessis again due to an injury.
