With the win, MI registered the most number of victories against an opposition at a single venue in the cash-rich league. Defending champions KKR were bowled out for just 116 runs after being put in to bat first.

MI have beaten KKR ten times at the Wankhede stadium in Mumbai, the most by any team at a single venue. KKR are second on the list, having defeat Punjab Kings nine times at their home ground the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. CSK had the chance to make it 9 against RCB at Chepauk but missed out after being handed a 50-run thrashing last week.

MI chased down the 116-run target in 12.5 overs. Ryan Rickleton hit an unbeaten 62 while Suryakumar Yadav finished proceedings with a six.
Earlier, Kolkata were bowled out for their third-lowest total at the Wankhede Stadium for just 116. After Trent Boult and Deepak Chahar reduced them to 41/4 in the powerplay, Ashwani Kumar bagged 4/24 on IPL debut to bowl them out.
