Tension between India and Pakistan has eased. That’s why the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is playing to restart the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 by the end of the week. Well, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) isn’t far behind. They are looking to do the same. The PCB hopes to resume the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2025 in the next couple of days.

PSL 2025 restart date

It was just 3 days ago that the PCB had suspended the PSL. And as the ceasefire has been announced, the Pakistani board wants the tournament to restart after just 1 week.

“We have eight games, including the final, remaining in the PSL, and the plan is to resume by May 15-16 with or without foreign players and wrap up the event,” a PCB source told PTI.

Will foreign players return?

One mustn’t forget that the situation was dire for foreign players who were part of the PSL 2025. An airbase was blown up not long after players left in a flight from there. England’s Tom Curran had broken down crying at one point, fearing for his life. And New Zealand’s Daryl Mitchell had told Bangladesh’s Rishad Hossain that he would never return to Pakistan.

But the PCB are hoping that foreign players return. It seems unlikely that English, Kiwi or Australian players will return. But the board wants Bangladeshi players to come back.

“Franchises have been told to ask the foreign players to return for the remaining matches, but the final decision is with them and their boards. The PCB is in touch with the Bangladesh Cricket Board, and both are monitoring the situation, but with the situation limping back to normalcy, the series is on now,” the source added.
