Δεδομένου ότι το Trophy Champions προσελκύει επί του παρόντος την προσοχή από μερικούς συναρπαστικούς αγώνες, ξέρετε ποιοι καπετάνιοι κέρδισαν αυτό το διάσημο ασήμι στο παρελθόν;
The ICC Champions Trophy 2025 is currently going on and has received everyone’s attention. And why not? All eight teams are giving their best to clinch the prestigious silverware. The tournament is also known as the Mini World Cup, and since its inception in 1998, it has seen some great leaders guiding their teams to glory.
Although it was unfortunate that after the 2017 edition, the tournament was discontinued, it is now back after eight years. As mentioned, the top eight teams and their captains are fighting for the trophy.
What makes this tournament interesting is that there is no room for a comeback, as one loss almost puts a team on the brink of elimination. However, many great leaders in the past have successfully led their teams to the title and stamped their names in the Champions Trophy‘s golden book.
But who are those captains who have won the trophy? Take a look at the list of Champions Trophy winning captains.

Legends are clearly present in this list, starting with South Africa’s Hansie Cronje, who led his team to victory in the inaugural edition, to Stephen Fleming, who did an impressive job for the Blackcaps two years later. An interesting moment came in the 2002 edition when India and Sri Lanka became joint winners after rain washed out the final. India’s legendary captain Sourav Ganguly and Sri Lanka’s great Sanath Jayasuriya shared the trophy, marking the only instance of a shared title in the tournament’s history.
Between 2004 and 2009, cricket legends dominated the tournament. In 2004, Brian Lara led the West Indies to a memorable victory. Then came Ricky Ponting’s era, where his aggressive captaincy played a crucial role in Australia’s back-to-back triumphs in 2006 and 2009. Among the greatest leaders, MS Dhoni, who has clinched every ICC trophy, guided India to their second Champions Trophy title in 2013.
The most recent edition in 2017 saw Sarfaraz Ahmed leading Pakistan to a historic victory. Now, all eyes will be on which captain will take home the Champions Trophy 2025.
